After rolling out the service for adults in 2021, the province saw positive effects of the adult program on the overall wait times for treatment and mental health. Horizon Health Network received some additional funding for new positions and the province’s addictions centres will now offer "one-at-a-time therapy" for children and youth. The health network says the modality of treatment allows it to connect a person in need to a clinician either within that same day, or 24 to 48 hours and the next stage of one-at-a-time therapy is in children and the youth sector. The office of the child and youth advocate reported on youth mental health and crisis care last fall and noted N.B.’s youth hospitalization rate is 40% higher than the national average.
