Knowledge Translation Specialist

The New Brunswick Health Council is seeking a curious, collaborative professional to join our team as a Knowledge Translation Specialist in Population Health
 

This role is ideal for someone who:

  • Is passionate about turning population health data into clear, meaningful insights
  • Can make sense of complex population health data
  • Is committed to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders
  • Wants to help drive positive change through evidence-informed communication

While you don’t need to be a technical data expert, you should feel confident interpreting trends, understanding population health indicators, and identifying what matters in the data.

This is a knowledge production role focused on synthesizing and interpreting data, not data analysis or communications design.
Location: This is an onsite full-time position located in Moncton, NB.

Travel: Some travel may be required.

Language: The successful candidate will be working in a bilingual environment daily. As such written and verbal communications skills in both English and French are required.
            -    A language aptitude test may be requested.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Health Research Analysis, the successful candidate will:

  • Demonstrate a good understanding of what population health indicators are and what they measure
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of indicators that reflect meaningful population health outcomes and social determinants
  • Review and advise on survey questionnaires to ensure clarity, consistency, and relevance
  • Analyse and interpret population health data to identify and explain key observations, trends, and disparities
  • Provide insights that go beyond the data and explore results in relation to broader context (demographic, social, health system)
  • Translate analytical insights into clear, accurate, plain-language messages for use in reports, public communications, and presentations
  • Collaborate closely with stakeholders to support knowledge sharing and building relationships with diverse partners
  • Contribute to the development of material tailored to diverse audiences
  • Actively contribute to a team environment that values learning, critical thinking, curiosity, and evidence-informed dialogue

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in public health, health sciences, social sciences, epidemiology, or a related field
    • an equivalent combination of education (minimum bachelor’s degree) and relevant experience will be considered
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in knowledge translation, with demonstrated ability to:  
    • Interpret population health or health system data
    • Understand and explain basic statistical measures (e.g., confidence intervals, trends, proportions)
    • Communicate findings to non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with population health concepts, including social determinants of health and health equity

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent plain-language writing and communication skills in both French and English
  • Strong team player who works well in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment
  • Naturally curious, with a desire to understand and explore data beyond the surface
  • Experience engaging with diverse stakeholders and building collaborative relationships
  • Basic data visualization skills to support clear presentation of information
  • Experience in developing and reviewing questionnaires
  • Proactive, reliable, and able to work independently
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to connect data to real-world context
  • Organized and detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy
  • Adaptable to shifting priorities and comfortable balancing multiple projects
  • Proven reliability and a strong prior performance/attendance record
  • Experience in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Familiarity with qualitative research methods to complement quantitative data insights

Additional assets: 

  • Experience using outputs of statistical software (SPSS or SAS)
  • Experience in health services quality, performance measurement sector, or public health surveillance
  • Post-secondary credentials in health communication are assets
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, transparency, and public service values
