  • The purpose of the New Brunswick Student Wellness Survey (NBSWS) is to examine students' perceptions, attitudes and behaviours in a number of key areas related to student well-being. It is a provincial initiative of the New Brunswick Department of Social Development - Wellness Branch in cooperation with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development. Data collection and analysis is carried out by the NBHC.

This year also includes an analysis of the top 10 causes of avoidable mortality (deaths before age 75 from preventable or treatable causes) in New Brunswick and health zones.

  • These four fact sheets outline four key areas affecting the health of children and youth in New Brunswick. The key areas are aligned with the population health priorities that were outlined in the NBHC’s 2011 Recommendations to the Minister of Health.

  • The Population Health Snapshot presents key indicators on the health status, determinants of health, demographics, chronic health conditions and hospital admissions of all seven New Brunswick health zones. This year also includes an analysis on the four priorities that the NBHC identified in its recommendations to the Minister of Health in 2011: lowering high blood pressure rates, achieving healthy weights, improving mental health and preventing injuries.
