B.C. seniors' advocates say they have high hopes the Minister for Seniors portfolio will streamline services across Canada. Hamilton MP Filomena Tassi was named to the post, dedicated to Canada's aging population. Seniors advocates in B.C. say housing affordability is a major difficulty for seniors. Other experts say the country now has the chance to learn from others that have similar positions on a national level, pointing to the U.K.'s recently instated Minister of Loneliness.
