The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists says it’s a situation that slowly evolved over the last year but it’s getting worse. At the Saint John Regional Cancer Centre, there should be 28 full-time positions for radiation therapists but there are seven vacancies. The association doesn’t think patients have seen the full impact yet but it’s starting to compromise national benchmarks. It adds both N.L. and N.S. are offering signing bonuses and N.B. isn’t keeping up.
