The incidence of colorectal cancer among young adults under 50 years of age rapidly climbed in recent years, challenging conventional perceptions of it being an older adults’ disease. A petition in Ont. is requesting the province lower the age criteria for colonoscopies to 30 from 50. Colorectal cancer is the fourth most common form of cancer in Canada and the second deadliest. For 2023, an estimated 24,000 colorectal cancer cases and 9,300 deaths were projected.
