NBHC Care Experience
August 03, 2017
Alberta Health Services unveiled a seven-month pilot program for primary care physicians and nurse practitioners to consult with opioid dependence specialists through a phone-in advice service. It's believed that patient outcomes relating to opioid use disorder would improve if frontline caregivers had the right preparation and supports to deal with the issue. Physicians from Edmonton and Calgary's opioid dependency program clinics will answer questions, usually within hours or by the next business day.
