Stakeholders can provide comments or take a survey relating to demographic questions and about how emergency care services will fit into the overall health system over the next five years. The provincial government directed AHS EMS to formulate a long-term service plan by Sept. 30. The EMS system was placed under considerable strain during the pandemic as staffing and equipment issues led to several situations when no ambulance was available to respond to emergency calls. The provincial government decided to add $64 million to AHS EMS' budget to add ambulances and paramedics to the network. Public consultation on the long-term EMS plan will be accepted until Apr. 8.
