Provincial statistics show 485 New Brunswickers were hospitalized while awaiting placement in a long-term care home in Oct. The New Brunswick Nurses Union says the number one issue causing delays for patients to be placed into nursing homes is staffing. The union adds nursing homes are struggling to maintain a safe staffing level and in many instances, there are beds that aren’t being utilized because of the staffing shortage. Liberal leader Susan Holt believes raising wages would be key to cutting down wait times.
