In response to a wave of violent crime, the province will spend $5 million over three years on a specialized health team embedded within Calgary police to deliver in-person medical care and counselling services. The program will include placing crisis workers in the city's 911 dispatch centre to provide enhanced support on mental health and addiction calls. There will also be on-site healthcare practitioners and paramedics at the Calgary police force's Spyhill Services Centre.
