The funding's meant to improve in-school supports and pediatric rehabilitation supports for children and youth and $42 million will be used to increase access to in-school resources starting this school year. This includes establishing mental health classrooms, which provide specialized clinical services for students with more complex needs. These classroom teams will include a mental health therapist, psychiatrist and classroom behavioural specialist and they’ll be supported by a nurse, social worker, educational psychologist, speech and language therapist and an occupational therapist.
