Too often, sex assault survivors in rural areas must drive long distances to access essential care and services. The Rural Sexual Assault Care - Expanded is an online, micro-credential course will be offered in Grande Prairie. It teaches how to provide comprehensive, trauma-informed care to survivors of recent sex assaults. It focuses on assessment, forensic evidence collection and court testimony. The $1-million in funding from the provincial government will cover the cost of the online course for RNs, NPs, registered midwives and doctors in rural Alta.
