The American Medical Association is developing a big data analytics and clinical informatics platform to offer organizations a common data model to improve care coordination. Initial partners of the AMA's Integrated Health Model Initiative (IHMI) include Cerner, IBM, Intermountain Healthcare, PCORI, AMIA, and SNOMED. The effort will prioritize a collaborative approach to better chronic disease care and population health management. The AMA hopes the initiative helps address physician dissatisfaction with EHRs and the administrative burdens involved in using the current generation of health IT tools.
