The B.C. government says there's no province-wide mental health resource available to post-secondary students, which is why it plans to introduce a virtual counselling, information and referral service that'll be available 24/7. The program will incorporate phone, online chat, text and email capabilities. Nearly half of post-secondary students report mental illness and/or substance-use disorders and 18% of the 15-to-24-age demographic say they were diagnosed or treated by a professional for anxiety.
