The province will invest $735,000 to expand Care to Speak and Care for Caregivers, two programs that offer online peer support and educational mental health resources for healthcare and community social services workers. Through this investment, the Care to Speak service will increase availability and ways for healthcare workers in long-term and continuing care to connect to peers trained in active listening and who can provide mental health support. Workers can also visit the Care for Caregivers website to access educational resources, including workshops for those working in healthcare. Multiple studies show healthcare workers are exhibiting signs of PTSD, stress, anxiety and depression as a result of their work.
