B.C. public safety plan includes more mental health teams

Facing an ongoing overdose crisis, the province will add 12 mental health response teams in communities across the province. This includes a plan to open 10 new Indigenous justice centres to provide culturally appropriate support for those caught up in the system. It also plans to revamp the addictions care model at Vancouver's St. Paul's Hospital that moves people from crisis response in ERs to detox, treatment and supportive housing. The province expects to use St. Paul as a model for the rest of the province.
