BCCDC contends B.C. dentists prescribe too many antibiotics

The B.C. Centre for Disease Control launched a promotional campaign with the B.C. Dental Association to bring attention to the rate of antibiotic prescribing by the province's dentists. The initiative is targeting patients, encouraging them to decline the offer of antibiotics from the dentist following an oral procedure. A similar patient-focused effort in B.C. to reduce antibiotic use by doctors has seen prescribing go down by 30% over 20 years.
