NBHC Care Experience
September 05, 2018

The provincial government says the Family Practice Learning Centre (FPLC) is the first initiative of its kind that pairs people without a primary care provider with UBC family medicine residents. Interior Health collaborated with UBC's Faculty of Medicine to develop the FPLC, which has seen nearly 1,000 patients since opening in Kamloops in 2018. The program helps residents to gain hands-on experience under the guidance of family physicians. Patients will be referred to the FPLC through the HealthLink BC Kamloops waitlist, with priority going to people who don’t have a family doctor but who have an illness or injury that requires immediate care.
