The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health says the new hub is the first in the country designed to provide care and development breakthroughs to the 45% of adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities who also have a mental illness. It was found that half of hospitalizations for those with developmental disabilities were for psychiatric reasons. The centre, the CAMH says, will focus on clinical innovation, research, education and training and knowledge exchange. The clinic was opened with a $10.4-million donation from the Azrieli Foundation.
