The clinics, operated by Halifax-based cardiac surgeons, decrease the travel distance patients in Sydney, Yarmouth and surrounding areas have to travel for appointments as cardiac surgical care is only available in Halifax. Patients visiting the clinic can be seen for pre-operative assessments as well as post-surgical follow up appointments and receive the same level of care they would at the QEII. Since 2022, about 200 patients attended the Sydney and Yarmouth clinics and a third clinic in P.E.I.
