Results of this Ontario-based survey of caregivers paints them as people often thrown unexpectedly into a role for which they aren't trained. While caregivers appreciate the time spent with their loved ones and believe they're improving their lives, 61% admit they took on the role because they believe they had no choice, with many feeling trapped, helpless, frustrated and overwhelmed. The survey found 36% of caregivers also felt depressed and 33% were resentful of their role, with almost half saying caregiving had negatively affected their ability to have personal time, engage in travel or enjoy a social life.
