A Unity Health Toronto study found that the CHARTWatch AI tool, developed at St. Michael's Hospital, significantly reduces the risk of unanticipated death in hospitalized patients by 26%. The tool monitors patients in real-time, identifying those at high risk of unexpected death or ICU transfer, and sends alerts for early intervention. The study demonstrates how promising AI-based early warning systems can be in reducing unexpected hospital deaths.
