An Angus Reid Institute survey indicates Canadians are losing hope the system is getting the attention it urgently requires. Only 25% are optimistic about improvements in healthcare in the next two years. Other findings include:

  • Only 26% consider the healthcare system to be in excellent or very good condition, whereas 48% considered it to be excellent or very good in 2015;
  • Among those who don’t have a family physician, 26% gave up looking while another 38% have looked for more than a year; and
  • Sixty-six percent believe money alone won’t fix healthcare.

The survey also indicates that 24/7 access to ERs, shorter wait times for surgery and shorter waiting lists to see a family doctor are among Canadians' top priorities.
