With the $2.9 million in funding from the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (CPAC), the University of Alberta will open training institutes in western and eastern Canada for the BETTER program. The initiative trains health practitioners in prevention and screening strategies for not only cancer, but also diabetes and heart disease. CPAC says the western institute will serve Alberta, B.C. and Manitoba, while the eastern branch is for Ontario, N.B., N.S. and N.L.
