Dementia friendly ward at London hospital transformed into therapeutic, reminiscence space

A dementia-friendly ward at the Royal Free Hospital in London has been transformed to look like 1970s Hampstead High Street. The space was transformed into a "therapeutic and reminiscence space" for elder patients and to provide people with dementia something different from a regular hospital ward. As part of the changes, street signs and newspaper headlines from decades past adorn the walls to help spark conversations and memories. The day room became a dining-room with ‘60s and ‘70s décor. The trust dementia lead at the hospital believes people with dementia need something different from a regular hospital ward.
