Dental costs soaring across Canada due to various factors

Provincial dental associations say a combination of high inflation, staffing costs and other rising dental practice expenses are driving average annual fee increases of 5% to almost 10%. New Brunswick Dental Society’s fee guide increase was 7.5%. Fee guide increases were relatively modest from 2017 to 2021, ranging between 1% and 5% per year. A standard dental checkup costs between $150 and $300, depending on whether it involves getting X-rays and how much time is needed for cleaning. Fillings cost from $150 to $450 each.
