England plans to be the first in the world to eliminate Hepatitis C

The World Health Organisation plans to eliminate the disease as a major public health concern by 2030. NHS England hopes to do it in seven years. Health leaders will call on the pharmaceutical industry to work with them to provide best value for money for treatments so that the NHS can commit to eliminating Hepatitis C earlier. An upcoming round of procurement is expected to be the largest medicine procurement done by the NHS England. It’s expected NHS and pharmaceutical companies will work together to identify more people who are living with Hepatitis C and need to be treated. NHS believes this approach could lead to the disease being eradicated as a major public health concern.
