Through the Innovation Technology Payment, NHS England directly funds a group of innovations to spread them across the national health organization. Recent innovations include:

  • HeartFlow, a non-invasive cardiac test that creates a 3D model of blockages in blood flow to quickly diagnose patients with coronary artery disease; and
  • Dip.io, a tool that provides patients with an at-home urine analysis to identify Chronic Kidney Disease and UTIs as well as pre-eclampsia in pregnant women.

NHS England claims over 7,000 patients already benefited from innovations that joined the program this year, with a further 95,000 patients profiting from the previous version of this initiative. Since 2015, 36 startups have been supported with 1,423 NHS sites using their innovations.
