A hospital in Orillia, Ont., claims wait times for an MRI decreased from 140 days to an average of 15. A spokesperson says additional funding from the LHIN allowed the MRI operation to expand from 16 hours of service, Monday through Friday, and eight hours on weekends to round-the-clock service Monday to Friday and 12 hours a day on weekends. The staffing model was altered to accommodate the extended hours, he says, adding 90% of patients access MRI services within the Ontario government's 28-day guideline.
