Fifty more doctors practising in Fredericton region

Horizon Health Network claims there are 395 physicians in the Fredericton area, including all specialties and staffing categories. That’s up from 345 at the end of the last calendar year. The health authority saw a net gain of 550 employees across the network - recruiting 2,400, but also losing 1,850. The province’s medical society says more recruitment is needed as physicians remain in short supply across the province and the capital region still has the highest number of patients waiting for a family doctor or primary care provider.
