As the first of its kind in Canada, the British Columbia Cultural Safety and Humility Standard provides guidance to health and social services organizations to address Indigenous-specific racism in their service delivery and provide more culturally safe services to First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples and communities. It was developed by Indigenous thought leaders and health professionals and is the first of its kind in Canada. The FNHA says the standard will improve the health system and better meet the needs of First Nations.
