The initiative, launched in Jan. at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital's ER in Fredericton, sees patients who could benefit from accessing physiotherapy or occupational therapy services identified during triage and connected to professionals located on-site within the department. Horizon Health Network says the approach is reducing wait times, preventing unnecessary admissions and improving hospital patient flow. Similar initiatives are also in place at the Saint John Regional Hospital and the Moncton Hospital.
