The Prime Minister named the former parliamentary secretary to the minister of finance, Ginette Petitpas Taylor, as the new federal health minister. She's succeeding Jane Philpott, who was appointed minister of Indigenous Services. In this role, Philpott will oversee the administration of several files relating to First Nations, including health delivery.
