The project will investigate treatment options for people living with opioid use disorder. Gitpo Spirit Lodge, located in Natoaganeg (Eel Ground) First Nation, will be leading the project. The lodge is an Indigenous wellness center focused on engaging with tradition to offer harm reduction and wellness programming. The pilot will research the use of cannabinoid products by people receiving opioid agonist medications, which include methadone, naloxone or buprenorphine treatment. The research will involve 30 participants that are from Natoaganeg First Nation. The treatment results will be studied by UNB.
