The Ontario COVID-19 Science Advisory Table and other health experts warn the struggle against COVID-19 isn’t over as case counts across the country are higher than they were in June 2021. They anticipate two surges after this summer, one in the late fall or early winter and another in the late winter or early spring. They say the top five issues that need to be addressed are:

  1. Healthcare system capacity;
  2. Third doses and boosters;
  3. Indoor air quality;
  4. Long COVID and other lasting effects; and
  5. Surveillance.
