Following a pilot project at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, patients with mental distress coming to other Horizon EDs will have access to a virtual addiction and mental health team and/or a psychiatrist. They’ll be assessed by the addiction and mental healthcare team where patients and providers determine when a virtual consultation with a psychiatrist is appropriate. The service was rolled out in the following hospitals:

  1. Charlotte County Hospital (St. Stephen);
  2. Grand Manan Hospital;
  3. Miramichi Regional Hospital;
  4. Oromocto Public Hospital;
  5. Sackville Memorial Hospital;
  6. Saint John Regional Hospital;
  7. Sussex Health Centre;
  8. The Moncton Hospital; and
  9. Upper River Valley Hospital (Waterville).
