The pilot, tried at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, improved access to addiction and mental health services for over 1,900 patients since Jan. It permits a patient coming to an ED with addiction or mental health concerns to access a collaborative care service delivery model. Horizon’s expanding the pilot project into three more EDs as three more social workers will join addiction and mental health teams in Moncton, Saint John and Miramichi to ensure those with addiction or mental health concerns receive better care and support in their recovery. The multidisciplinary team's comprised of peer support workers, RNs, LPNs and a psychiatrist.
