Health-related apps in the U.S. surpass 318,500 - nearly double the number available just two years ago - with approximately 200 new ones added to the market daily, says a report by the IQVIA Institute for Human Data Science. The number of apps focused on health management represents 40% of all health-related apps. The volume of available heath apps means 85% have fewer than 5,000 downloads. However, 41 apps have at least 10 million downloads, representing nearly half of all app download activity. Separately, it found there is at least one high-quality app for each step of the patient journey. Use of just five of these apps could save the American healthcare system an estimated $7 billion per year, the report concludes.
