The chair of Infoway Health Canada, Peter Vaughan, told a Halifax forum on healthcare in the post-baby boom era that the future includes data clouds, artificial intelligence and digitally-based healthcare solutions. He explains that technologies that monitor individuals' vital signs will be able to spot signs of trouble before they occur and prevent hospitalizations. Vaughan adds that although governments spend nearly half of their budgets on healthcare, outcomes are more contingent on personal knowledge - mainly sourced online - that drive healthy behaviours.
