KPMG’s report includes recommendations that were implemented and some that are underway in the province’s healthcare system. Among those recommendations include reducing insured chiropractic coverage to better align with other jurisdictions in Canada and reducing variations in staffing models to optimize staffing mixes. The released portion of the review hints at consolidation of Manitoba’s regional health authorities, with the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority playing the provincial role. The review also highlights layers of bureaucracy between organizations such as CancerCare Manitoba. It recommends these should be consolidated with other organizations such as the Addictions Foundation of Manitoba under a single-delivery organization.
