London, Ont. is connecting with a British community that wants to start its own Age Friendly project. The city will become a mentor for the region of Cheshire West under a pilot project run by the WHO. London was the first Canadian city to join the international network of age friendly municipalities in 2010. The first year of London's Age Friendly project wrapped up in June and included a volunteer fair tailored to older residents and workshops to help aging Londoners adapt their homes. Year two of the plan will focus on a guide for builders and planners to support the construction of safe, walkable and attractive neighborhoods to better support seniors as they age in their own homes.
