The province is injecting $5.3 million to perform at least 1,000 more hip and knee replacement surgeries in 2019 - a 25% increase. It will also fund 2,000 additional cataract surgeries next year, comparable to a 16% increase. This year, CIHI ranked Manitoba last for the percentage of people waiting longer than the recommended 16-week time period for cataract surgery.
