A non-profit membership organization called Bay to Sound Neighbors was formed in Mid Cape, Mass. to help seniors in Dennis and Yarmouth age in place as long as possible. The organization aims to keep seniors in the two towns stay in their homes and out of nursing homes and assisted living facilities through the support of community volunteers. The seniors can use the organization for rides to doctors appointments, have a volunteer take them to a grocery store or help them minor household repairs. The volunteers can also simply provide a social visit. Bay to Sound Neighbors is part of a national Village to Village Network and says there are about 350 villages in place across the U.S. with several more in development.
