The MRI scanner will cost Sask. $2.4 million and should increase capacity by around 5,000 patients over the next two years. The province says using an MRI is becoming increasingly important in the diagnosis and assessment of conditions including stroke, breast cancer and cardiac function. MRI services have been operating at 100% of pre-pandemic volumes since the end of Aug. 2020 and additional procedures are being performed to address the backlog.
