A spokesperson for the Manitoba government contends there's nothing to prevent a nurse practitioner (NP) from providing private healthcare to patients. Winnipeg-based Nurse Practitioner House Call Services and Clinic charges between $40 and $80 per house call. One NP believes most people they visits privately can't physically get to a doctor and believes her service helps keep some people out of emergency rooms. According to the Nurse Practitioners Association of Manitoba, some 30 NPs offer some services in private practice.
