The Mount St. Vincent University class is designed to give those who need either home care or LTC - for themselves or a loved-one - a crash course on how the public system works in the province. The online course will consist of three main components:

  1. A survey of continuing care options the province provides;
  2. Answers to questions like how does a person get into the system? How does a person get a referral for themselves or someone else and how to prepare for an interview with a care coordinator; and
  3. Advocacy and how to find a solution in cases where home care or LTC isn’t meeting the client’s needs.

The $125 course was designed with home-care clients in mind but it might also be useful for healthcare workers.
