N.B. among few provinces that don’t share ED database with CIHI

A Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) report related to pneumonia-related ER visits across the country didn’t have any data from N.B. in it, the agency explained, because the province is one of the few that doesn't share its emergency department database (NACRS) with the federal agency. This essentially means New Brunswickers can’t determine how their ER experience compares to other facilities across the country. Horizon says its statistics on ED visits can be found in its annual reports, while Vitalité said it’s in discussions with CIHI and it may share the data in the future. The New Brunswick Medical Society says the data should be shared to have an accurate picture of the health system's challenges.
