The goal of the EHR is to assess and prevent the spread of communicable diseases, allowing residents to rid themselves of paper records for vaccinations. The Public Health Information Solution (PHIS) will store information related to vaccine inventory as well as immunization, communicable disease and outbreak management. PHIS will lead to the digitization of paper records, connect non-integrated health databases and give the Department of Health real-time tracking of the vaccine inventory. It’s modeled it after the One Person One Record project in Nova Scotia.
