The provincial government will pay a $2,500 bonus to physicians who use the EMR system before the end of the year. Those who sign on during the first quarter of 2019 will get $2,000. As of April 1, physicians who start working in a clinic will have to adopt this system and those using a fee-for-service and who are already using it can receive additional incentives. About 300 out of 750 doctors have transitioned to the EMR and the province wants 400 more do so in the next five years.
