The funding will be used for three new initiatives from the Newfoundland and Labrador Centre for Health Information (NLCHI) aimed at growing the life sciences sector. Nearly $4 million will be used to assess, design and implement a Health Data Lab for the cataloguing and storage of health records. About $3.3 million is earmarked for a telehealth pilot program and the NLCHI will use $1.8 million to partner with Eastern Health and Memorial University to implement technology to improve the system to electronically order medical processes and procedures.
